It will probably surprise many that a band they know predominantly for only one song can release a two-disc set of rarities and unreleased tracks.
But longtime fans of American power pop heroes Fountains of Wayne -- "that Stacy's Mom band," for the rest of you -- shouldn't be shocked the band's collection features the sweetest guitar rock you'll hear this side of Weezer.
That these more than two dozen tracks didn't make it onto one of the group's three studio CDs only speaks volumes about what superb pop songsmiths they are.
From disc one opener Maureen to Baby I've Changed to The Girl I Can't Forget to covers of Britney Spears' . . . Baby One More Time and Aztec Camera's Killermont Street, many of these intoxicating gems would anchor albums by lesser acts.
Sure, there aren't as many moments of pure magic as on the other Wayne releases and a few extra merely adequate tracks, but that's kind of like complaining that a free keg of beer wasn't quite big enough.
